The website and local CLI can prepare SSH access for a GPU. The HTTP SDK and hosted MCP accept an explicit public key. Never send an SSH private key in an API payload, chat message or support log.

Local CLI state

Configure DREAMTUNE_COMPUTE_STATE_DIRECTORY as an absolute private directory. compute start creates an Ed25519 key pair and saves its launch reference before submitting. The same named launch and selection reuse this saved identity. Do not delete that directory while you still need access to its rentals. The CLI reports corrupt or missing state rather than silently replacing the key. The platform API key is not stored in these compute state files.

Prepare before hosted MCP

Preparation creates local access without renting a GPU. Send only its public launch fields (instanceType, region, publicKey, idempotencyKey) to the hosted MCP tool create_compute_job. Once a job ID has been returned and the job is ready:
The CLI verifies the association with that launch and its saved key. Set DREAMTUNE_SSH_USER for the selected image. An Ubuntu example uses ubuntu; other images can require a different account.

Inspect before connecting

The connection command returns connection arguments without starting a shell. Host-key checking is preserved. Investigate a changed-host warning before accepting a new key; do not disable verification merely to make SSH connect. Notebook URLs grant access to the machine. Retrieve them only when needed and avoid storing them in public logs. Disconnecting SSH or closing a notebook does not stop runtime billing.

Finish a rental

Confirm a terminal job state. Preserve relevant output before stopping; persistent storage is not provided by the current rental contract.
